Artificial intelligence has grown by leaps and bounds recently, with more sophisticated and nuanced jobs being replaced by robots. And whenever innovation arrives, its use for sexual purposes quickly follows. Below is how artificial intelligence has begun to transform sexuality as we know it.
You May Already Be Using Artificial Intelligence
AI may already be in your bedroom. Involving artificial intelligence in your sex life is a spectrum—it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have sex with a robot. If you use teledildonics or haptic technology with your sex toys, which can transmit touch over distances (for long-distance relationships) or sensations that match up with virtual reality porn, then you’re already on the cutting edge. If you chat with a sexy content creator, you could be chatting with a bot if they have outsourced that part of their job.
Even social media has changed the face of sex since it has become a source of temptation and infidelity for some. For more about how to navigate social media, check out my video below:
Further, with more advances in the medical industry, people are using robotics as parts of their bodies. Human augmentation, whether for medical or elective purposes, is a form of robotics that doesn’t always overlap with artificial intelligence, but many rely on this science to continue having a fulfilling sex life. As technology continues to integrate in and around us, we can take a deeper look at what it means to be human.
Why Sex With Artificial Intelligence Can Be Appealing
When Internet dating was in its infancy, many people believed it was an unnatural or inferior way to meet someone. Now, it’s not only normal, but it’s also one of the most common ways to find a partner. And that is the typical trajectory for how stigma begins and then eventually dissipates. Currently, people are wary of technology’s newfound spot in their lives before they learn to accept it. And since that’s the case, AI use is still stigmatized and people who take part in it are sometimes incorrectly seen as desperate rather than forward-thinking.
However, AI can help people find sexual fulfillment. Those with severe social anxiety may have difficulty finding sex partners. Yet with a sex doll or sex robot, they don’t have to traumatize themselves but can be more direct about what they want out of an interaction without fear of rejection or ridicule. Others who have experienced sexual trauma may feel more comfortable with a robot they can control when restarting their sex lives.
The truth is that whenever you have a connection to something, it’s authentic and valid. Some people feel incredible attachment to pet goldfish or a photo album from their parents or any number of other things that may never love them back, but it doesn’t diminish the reality of the emotional importance of their experience.
AI Is Here to Stay—But It Still Can’t Replace Human Interaction
Though AI has made huge strides, it’s not a replacement for the intimacy and surprise that are part of human interaction. In the end, interactions with AI don’t have all the same advantages and disadvantages of talking to a real, live person. Further, they may not even be good practice for developing better social skills since many robots are trained to be compliant and friendly in every situation, whereas humans would have more varied reactions. AI-based sex aids can’t anticipate your needs or act of their own accord when they’re out of battery. Yet for so many, they can provide an antidote to loneliness and a companion when they need it most.
